Meet the new Nextdoor

Nextdoor was undergoing a major brand evolution to better reflect the vibrancy, utility, and humanity of neighborhood life. Gretel partnered with Nextdoor to develop the refreshed brand identity and core graphic language, and as part of the Brand Studio, I worked closely alongside their team to help flesh out and extend the system into real-world applications. I developed modular visual frameworks, campaign assets, and storytelling tools that translated the identity into scalable applications across product, marketing, sales, social, and experiential touchpoints, ensuring consistency while enabling teams to create cohesive, emotionally resonant work at scale.

In addition to launched work, I explored campaign directions to expand how the brand could show up in culture and in neighborhoods, many of which are currently in development for 2026. I also created internal storytelling tools, including presentation templates, social systems, and marketing frameworks, to equip teams with the resources needed to apply the brand consistently and confidently.

This work helped evolve Nextdoor’s brand expression into a flexible campaign system that supports ongoing storytelling while bringing greater consistency and clarity across touchpoints.

I led design for in-product campaigns including Treat Map and Holiday, using seasonal moments to create expressive brand experiences within Nextdoor’s core product. A key part of this work was evolving the Blocks iconography by reimagining the geometric shape language with a warmer, more textured feel. This refreshed look helped transform functional product surfaces into moments of storytelling and delight.

Treat Map turned the neighborhood map into a playful, interactive feature that encouraged real world participation, while Holiday introduced festive in-app moments that made the platform feel more joyful and culturally relevant. This work helped elevate Nextdoor’s creative expression within the product and contributed to the app being featured on the Apple App Store, expanding visibility and reaching new users.
